Pediatric Disaster Response and Emergency Preparedness: TEEX (MGT-439)

The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness along with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office will be sponsoring two deliveries of a two-day training course titled, “Pediatric Disaster Response and Emergency Preparedness" (MGT-439). The Texas Engineering Extension Service, a member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium, will deliver the training.

COST: None, but please preregister as seating is limited.

Participants completing this program will be able to properly perform patient triage, decontamination, treatment, and transportation in the event of exposure to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) weapons. The course consists of facilitated discussions, small group exercises, hands-on activities, and task-oriented practical applications. Course participants will use both state-of-the-art adult and pediatric human patient simulators to promote critical thinking skills while utilizing the RAPID – Care concept.

This course is for Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Service, Governmental Administrative, Law Enforcement, Health Care, Public Health, Public Safety Communications, Citizen/Community Volunteer, Security and Safety. Sixteen continuing elective units (CEUs) will be awarded to New Jersey Emergency Medical Technicians. Continuing education credit is approved by the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
