Active Shooter and Counterterrorism Response for Public Safety Communications (Evening)

The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJOHSP), New Jersey State Police (NJSP), and the New Jersey Office of Emergency Telecommunications Services (NJOETS) will sponsor a three-hour seminar entitled: “Active Shooter and Counterterrorism Response for Public Safety Communications”.

COST: There is no cost to attend this seminar.

DESCRIPTION:
This three-hour awareness seminar will provide foundational knowledge and best practice strategies in the following topics:
Active Shooter and Counterterrorism for Public Safety Communications
Discuss active shooter incidents and complex coordinated attacks using recent event case studies while focusing on timelines and the role of public safety communications.
Terrorist Screening Center (TSC) Overview and Updates
The TSC serves as the authoritative source in consolidating and coordinating the United States Government's approach to terrorism screening and facilitates the sharing of terrorism information that protects the Nation. This brief will provide an overview about the TSC encounters and recent updates to code notification system.
New Jersey's Suspicious Activity Reporting System (NJSARS) Overview
This brief will provide indicators to help recognize suspicious activity as well as the means for contacting NJOHSP to report it.
Toolbox of Resources for Public Safety Communications
Provide an overview of resources available for usage in regards to Federal Bureau-Investigation’s Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC), and New Jersey Learning Management Systems (NJ Learn).

TARGET AUDIENCE:
This training seminar is designed for Public Safety Communications and Telecommunicators (PST) who play a critical role in assisting public safety and first responders.
