RIA - ISIL & Homegrown Violent Extremists

The Federal Bureau of Investigation – Newark Division Joint Terrorism Task Force and the New Jersey State Police will present a seminar regarding the current threat posed by “The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Homegrown Violent Extremists.” These offerings are sponsored by the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security & Preparedness, the New Jersey Association of School Resource Officers, and the New Jersey Regional Intelligence Academy.

There is no cost to attend the seminar. The seminar will provide an overview of the threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Homegrown Violent Extremists. Presenters will discuss behavioral indicators of the radicalization process and then discuss case studies of two homegrown violent extremists from New Jersey who attempted to travel overseas to fight with terrorists. Following the ISIL threat presentation, the FBI will provide an overview of the internal and external threat of an active shooter event and how to manage it.

Public and private sector, security personnel, and law enforcement responsible for security & safety.

The RIA is a training partnership amongst the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (OHS&P), the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) and the public safety agencies represented in the New Jersey Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) region.
