| Description: | The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security & Preparedness (OHSP) and the New Jersey Association of School Resource Officers (NJASRO) will be co-hosting a School Security/Terrorism Awareness Train-The-Trainer workshop on Wednesday March 24, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., at the Ewing Township Police Department, 2 Jake Garzio Drive, Ewing Township, N.J. 08628. There is no cost to attend this training. Coffee and lunch will be compliments of NJASRO.
The New Jersey Association of School Resource Officers encourages Officers who have experience in public speaking and are comfortable teaching to large groups of people attend this training. The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security & Preparedness (OHSP) has developed three programs specific to school security and terrorism awareness. The shared goal of this pro-active initiative is to provide School Resource Officers, DARE Officers, GREAT Officers, Crime Prevention Officers or any officers responsible for community policing type programs with direct delivery tools related to school security and terrorism awareness. These OHSP school security programs can be added or incorporated into programs already in existence in your respective school systems. Each program has been developed as a two hour interactive presentation.
1. Situational Awareness for School Bus Drivers - Target audience is NJ school bus drivers, transportation supervisors, and school administrators within the public and private education sector
2. The Threat to Schools and Terrorist Tactics and Trends - Target audience is broad based school community; including school administrators, school staff, teachers, students and parents
3. Situational Awareness for School Security Guards - Target audience is school security guards and safety supervisors
To protect the integrity of the aforementioned programs only those officers who have successfully completed the Train-The-Trainer workshop will be permitted to deliver it.
Seating for this workshop is strictly limited; therefore, registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Seating is limited to 40 attendees. Given the limited seating, attendance is by invitation ONLY. Please DO NOT disseminate this notice. Pre-registration is required for this course no later than March 17th, 2010.
