Personal Radiation Isotopic Identifier Device Course (RIID): CTOS (PER-245)

The Counter Terrorism Operational Support (CTOS), a member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC), will be instructing the DHS approved training course titled, "Personal Radiation Isotopic Identifier Device Course (RIID-identiFINDER)" (PER-245).

COST: None, but please preregister as seating is limited.

DESCRIPTION

This instructor-led, exercise-based course is designed to train the Preventive Radiological/Nuclear Detection (PRND) mission using a Radiation Isotope Identifier Device (RIID) to perform a secondary radiological assessment.

Responders operate RIIDs to detect radiation, verify the alarm, localize the source of radiation, measure the radiation level, identify radioactive isotopes, and assess the threat status of detected material. Participants employ the RIID to help adjudicate potential threats regarding situations with people, vehicles, packages, and facilities.

Additional information regarding PRND operations in maritime environments is available and included as needed.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Homeland Security Professionals, Law Enforcement, Hazmat Technicians, First Responders, Security/Safety Professionals, and Public Works personnel.
