Message from Director Chris Rodriguez

As the Thanksgiving holiday quickly approaches, please remember to stay both safe and alert this holiday week. As evidenced by recent events in Beirut, Mali, Paris, and Israel, terrorist groups have targeted large public gatherings.

Although we have no specific or credible information regarding any threats in New Jersey associated with these recent events, law enforcement agencies across the state have increased patrols at major transportation facilities and areas where large public gatherings are expected. We have been in constant communication with our local law enforcement and federal partners to share information and ensure seamless coordination. Our number one priority is to protect the citizens of New Jersey.

We encourage the public to remain vigilant when travelling or attending public gatherings this week. Please remember to be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately. Suspicious activity can also be reported directly to the NJOHSP Counterterrorism Watch desk (24/7) by calling: 1-866-4-SAFE-NJ (866-472-3365) or simply dialing 2-1-1. You can also report via email: or by downloading our SAFE-NJ Suspicious Activity Reporting app, available for iOSAndroid, and Windows mobile platforms.
